NBA 2K23 Analysis: Great Basketball, Bloated Hubs

NBA 2K23 MT Coins marks of much-needed path correction for the series with new gameplay features, a deeper involvement in MyCareer with new Seasons and much more. After a relatively unsatisfactory experience in the past, NBA 2K is back with a far more powerful edition with NBA 2K23.

2K23 shines the most on the court as that is the most important part, but it also suffers from unnecessarily bloated hubs in its most popular mode, MyCareer. The W is also less of an option than fully-fledged modes, but at least , it's got gaming and graphics improvements.

It's still a blast to play. There are plenty of options for players to play in MyCareer, MyTeam, and the more in-depth League and GM modes which compensate for the negatives of The City on current-gen consoles and The Neighborhood on last-gen.

At the core, the problem of how great any entry in the NBA 2K franchise is lies with how good it feels to play in a basketball game. However, it is a blessing, in spite of the lengthy wait for the gameplay announcement, it's not a matter of an NBA game played in MyCareer as well as a pickup game in the hubs, or a game against Domination within MyTeam.

The gameplay of 2K23 feels more realistic and enjoyable than its predecessors. From minor tweaks to stamina drain, through adjustment of the shot meter, to new badges for MyCareer and MyTeam, it all goes hand-in-hand with the stunning graphics with which 2K has become famous for creating something unforgettable.

Like the previous entries NBA 2K23 was looking for improvements to the player experience like introducing new events within MyTeam along with a fresh Seasonal Quest feature to MyCareer and also introducing new features for players to build their reach within The City.

Some of the new features don't have been successful, and even with the new features for the MyCareer hubs they seem a bit bloated and uninteresting at times. In spite of this, there's plenty of variety in this two-day excursion to keep busy for hours at a time.

This isn't as significant as the relocation of franchises, but major advancements have been made in the management of your scouts and coaches using MyStaff. They've also improved the training system which was usually a burden in the past. There's nothing huge about it, however it's a step in positive direction.

Incorporating adding the WNBA to the NBA2king series was a huge deal and gave the highly skilled ladies of the women's league a platform to shine. In the field, it has resulted in a positive experience with most games feeling different than the male counterparts, with greater emphasis on fundamentals.
