GEMMA & MATTHEW: REAL BRIDE STORY

  • We had met in 2012, where both of us worked at our local park. Our first date wasn't brilliant; I was very poor but didn't wish to cancel and wound up throwing up within the cinema! Thankfully he wasn't delayed and made sure I got home safe. We stayed together throughout university and when we had graduated and bought our first house, Matt proposed within the gardens from the Louvre, Paris, in 2018,

I enjoyed the marriage planning to start with, however, the pandemic made things a little harder. One positive from the delay was it gave us additional time to conserve and book more activities like a magician and casino tables. We were because of the option to book later within the year but chose to wait an entire year hoping things could be back to normal.

I've always dreamed of the fantasy big white princess wedding dresses but had never tried any on and wasn't sure an amount suit me. I only visited one shop, It's FeelTimes, plus they were brilliant. They allow me to try on about 10 dresses, all in different styles, plus they even did modifications and cleaning for me.

My eye was instantly attracted to the feel times dress it had been so sparkly underneath the lights. Once I used it on, I knew it was for me. It had sleeves which I wanted, it defined my waist coupled with the most amazing train filled with sparkle.

The day was lovely, there have been a few hiccups early in the morning but once the ceremony was done it had been relaxed and I was able to celebrate outside without masks on. By far the very best bit of the day was seeing everyone after finding yourself in lockdown for most of the year. Also, the looks on people's faces as our dogs brought the rings on the aisle were priceless.

With the casino tables and magicians, we'd arranged it had been great to determine everyone making memories. We were worried using the masks and socially distancing people wouldn't have a great time but we didn't be concerned as everyone had an incredible time and reached dance!

My advice for future brides would be to slow down, it is going so quickly. Take time for you to touch base with your lover and getaway. I'm so grateful we've got a videographer, the footage is amazing also it means I can remember exactly our vows and hear us saying them again.
